Oakland’s streets play a pivotal role in the history of the Black Panther Party (BPP). Against this backdrop are the iconic intersections and locations. The piece serves as a timeline and a record of the life of BPP co-founder Huey Newton - adopting the vernacular of the street map, the migratory and movement history of the BPP and Newton are mapped and layered under iconic dates and street addresses.
